(Invited) Two-color soliton meta-atoms and molecules

We present a detailed overview of the physics two-color soliton molecules in nonlinear waveguides, i.e. bound states localized optical pulses which are held together due to an incoherent interaction mechanism. The mutual confinement, or trapping, subpulses, leads stable propagation pulse compound, is enabled by Kerr effect. Special attention paid description binding mechanism terms attractive potential wells, induced refractive index changes exerted on one another through cross-phase modulation. Specifically, we discuss nonlinear-photonics meta atoms, given compounds consisting strong trapping and weak trapped pulse, for low intensity determined Schr\"odinger-type eigenproblem. rich dynamical behavior such meta-atoms, demonstrating that increase group-velocity mismatch both subpulses ionization-like trapping-to-escape transition. further demonstrate if constituent similar amplitude, molecule-like bound-states formed. show z-periodic amplitude variations permit coupling these compound dispersive waves, resulting resonant emission Kushi-comb-like multi-frequency radiation.
